LEWIS ITALIANO SIGNS A ONE YEAR DEAL WITH NEWCASTLE

It’s been on the cards for a few weeks, but today the Jets formally announced the signing of keeper Lewis Italiano on a one year deal.
During five seasons with Wellington, Italiano made 19 appearances in goals.
The 27-year-old has spent time as the back up to former Phoenix and current Newcastle keeper, Glen Moss, while also being coached by Ernie Merrick.
“I’ve known Ernie, signed me at Wellington, obviously worked under Mossy so yeah I think they can bring the best out of me and I can definitely help them.”
Italiano is likely to play his first official game for the Jets this Saturday against the Western Sydney Wanderers at Maitland’s Number One Sportsground at midday.
