MAITLAND CLAIM NSW RUGBY CLUB OF THE YEAR AWARD
Maitland Rugby Club has capped off a successful season, last night crowned the Club of the Year at the NSW Rugby Awards.
The evening honoured both those who have excelled on the field as well as the game’s volunteers.
It comes off the back of the weekend’s grand final, in which the Blacks went down to Hamilton 20 – 12.
The loss to the Hawks was just the club’s second appearance in the first grade decider since claiming the title in 1999.
Maitland’s Dan Leadley was also recognised, named the Youth Volunteer of the year.
Former Wanderers front-rower Harry Johnson-Holmes was named the Chris Whitaker Aspiring Waratah Medalist, after making his debut for the NSW side earlier this year.
