CHARLESTOWN ROAD FLOODED IN WATER MAIN BREAK

Motorists on Newcastle’s inner city bypass were forced to drive through a river of gushing water this morning, after a water main broke at Charlestown.

The main, located near Charlestown Road, burst at around 7am, sending torrents of water up onto the streets and affecting some properties nearby.

Hunter Water crews worked swiftly to repair the leak.
