BAR BEACH PROTESTORS DEMAND AN END TO SEISMIC TESTING

Seismic testing for natural gas deposits off the coast of Newcastle is to resume.
Marking international Rise for Climate day, hundreds flocked to Bar Beach to put an end to the blasts.

    Thanks for the great coverage of our event, Rise to Save Our Coast, as part of the International Rise for Climate Event. The recent seismic testing (underwater blasting for oil or gas) occurred off Newcastle in April (22km off Swansea) for 3 days. Of deep concern is that despite the plethora of global scientific and community evidence of its environmental impacts, more extensive 3D seismic testing is being planned for 500 square kilometres in PEP 11 (which is from the Northern Beaches of Sydney to Newcastle) to identify multiple drilling targets for a gas field. We continue to raise awareness to try to save our beautiful coast from this threat.
