FIRE COMES DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO HUNTER VALLEY VINEYARD

Meanwhile, in the Hunter Valley, a grass fire edged dangerously close to a vineyard at Pokolbin this afternoon.

Strong winds challenged fire crews, who managed to stop the flames spreading into Casuarina Estate.

The blaze also burned around two major power lines, causing concern.

“We had about ten hectres that it blew out to, at this point in time it is under investigation as to the origin of the fire,” said Mr. Becker.

A total fire ban remains in place in the Hunter.
