CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON INDOOR SKATE BOARDING PRECINCT

There’s good news for Newcastle skaters, with work set to start on two new indoor skate parks.

Next week, the owners of Newcastle surf store, Sandbah will begin the redevelopment of the former green grocer site at Marketown.

Dubbed ‘The Grind House’, it’ll be the first of its kind in Newcastle.

“We sponsor a lot of kids in the area and there are so many good skaters in the area and we just want to help grow that,” said Reece Smith.

Lessons and after school activities will be part of the concept store, due to open by Christmas.

Meanwhile, Westfield Kotara is also set to include an indoor half pipe in its redevelopment.
