POLICE OFFICER ASSAULTED AT MUSWELLBROOK

A police officer has sustained a laceration to his head while trying to arrest a 24-year-old man in the Hunter Valley.

Officers were called to a home on Forbes Street at Muswellbrook, at around 11:30 last night, following reports of a domestic incident.

Upon arrival they spoke with a 24-year-old man, who became aggressive, allegedly assaulting an officer before being arrested.

The officer was taken to Muswellbrook Hospital for treatment.

It’s further alleged as police were leaving the home, a 22-year-old woman jumped on an officer’s back, causing him to fall down a set of stairs.

The woman was arrested, with both the man and the woman charged with a string of offences.

They are expected to face court in August.
