A man has been charged over what police allege was a racially-motivated attack on two people at Mayfield East.
Officers say the incident happened on George Street on Tuesday night, when a male approached a 47-year-old African man, then allegedly slapped him in the face, kicked and verbally abused him.
A 43-year-old woman who came to the man’s aid was also allegedly abused.
Another member of the public intervened a 38-year-old man was arrested a short time later.
