FINAL STAGE OF CONSTRUCTION ON SHELLY BEACH SLSC TO GET UNDERWAY

The Shelly Beach Surf Lifesaving headquarters will be bigger and better, thanks to a $100,000 extension and upgrade.

The state government is funding stage-three of construction.

Minister for Emergency Services Troy Grant says the expanded facility will benefit surf lifesavers and beachgoers alike.

“It’s not about the bricks and mortar. You need to have the space so they can efficiently and effectively learn their trade and their skills and that’s what this money provides.”

Nationals M-L-C Ben Franklin says the centre will become a learning hub.

“What this is about is a training facility and an education facility for Surf Life Savers across the North Coast and this building today, once we’ve had the final refurbishment, will be the centre for that.”

It’s hoped construction will get underway before the season starts.
