An elderly driver had a lucky escape today, when his vehicle plunged more than 40 metres down an embankment in Port Macquarie.
Police say the 80-year-old man was heading along Pacific Drive when he suffered a medical episode.
His Toyota Corolla veered off the road, before careering through a streel barricade and down the headland at Oxley Beach Reserve… stopping metres from the busy coastal walk.
The man managed to get himself out of the car before being treated by paramedics.
He was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital for assessment.
