Fairfax Media has confirmed it will close its Beresfield printing facility.
70-jobs will be lost as a result, with daily editions of the Newcastle Herald to be printed from a joint Fairfax and News Limited facility.
Under the plan the Newcastle Herald, Maitland Mercury, Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Star and Port Stephens Examiner will all be printed from North Richmond.
The changes don’t affect the Herald’s Newcastle editorial and commercial staff.
