DRUNK DRIVER CAUGHT SPEEDING BY MORE THAN 85KM/H

Police have charged a 34-year-old man, after he was allegedly detected travelling more than 85km/h over the speed limit while intoxicated on the state’s Far North Coast.

Shortly before 9 o’clock this morning, officers patrolling the Pacific Highway at Tyagarah spotted a Honda Civic allegedly travelling at 187km/h in a 100km/h zone.

Officers caught up with the car near Tandys Lane, with the driver failing a roadside breath test.

The Queensland man was taken to Brunswick Heads Police Station, where he allegedly returned a reading of 0.152.

His licence was suspended, due to face court at Mullumbimby tomorrow.
