WALLABY SCRUB ROAD SET FOR CLOSURE

A date is still to be set on the controversial closure of a key road between the town of Bulga and Warkworth Coalmine.

Wallaby Scrub Road is in the process of being prepared for sale by Singleton Council, to the mining company, following recent approval by the Department of Industry.

“In making its determination to support the closure of the road, council considered a whole range of factors, and on balance decided the closure of the road was appropriate,” Singleton Council General Manager Jason Linnane said.

Locals say they’ll challenge the move.
