There’s a new national sporting event bound for Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.
Come 2022, the region will host the Australian Deaf Games… featuring more than a thousand hearing-impaired athletes.
“They take their hearing aids off, and they play a game of sport, and they really enjoy the competition, the community, the connection, the friendships.”
The games will also be used to show the Hunter is capable of hosting large-scale events… amid talk of a Commonwealth Games bid.
