The sale of the historic Newcastle Post Office is imminent, with owners, the Awabakal Land Council, confirming they’ve whittled 11 prospective buyers down to just one.
The preferred submission will soon go before members before a final decision is made.
Hotel magnate Jerry Schwartz was among four still in contention back in February, but the land council is keeping its preferred buyer confidential for now.
Last Friday, the state government announced Awabakal had won land claims over the former Newcastle and Burwood Colliery bowling club sites.
