RECORD $1.16 BILLION IN APPROVED DEVELOPMENT APPLICATIONS

A development boom is underway in Lake Macquarie, with approvals up 25 per cent on the previous year.

More than 2,000 applications were given the green light in the 2017-18 financial year, as well as 436 amended D-As.

Among them, the $80-million Water’s Edge development at Warners Bay.

The top five suburbs included Cooranbong, where the total value of approved DAs hit $126.8-million.

Catherine Hill Bay also experienced a sharp rise.

Below is a list of the top 5 suburbs according to the value of approved DAs, with the comparision between 2016-17 and 2017-18.

Cooranbong $36m (up) $127m

Warners Bay $140m (down) $110m

Charlestown $53m (up) $95m

Cardiff $37m (up) $81m

Catherine Hill Bay $19m (up) $74m
