AUSTRALIAN WATERCROSS CHAMPS PREPARE TO TAKE THE WATER

It may have been a choppy day on the Lake, but that didn’t stop preparations ahead of the Australian Watercross Championships today.

The national event will take over Lake Macquarie at Eleebana next weekend, bringing with it world champions and thousands of visitors.

It’s the first time the championships have been held in the region in nearly two-decades.

“It’s a great economic boost for our area, it’s showcasing our beautiful lake, and it’s getting the guys on jet skii’s – they’re having a ball out there!” said Mayor Kay Fraser.

“Lots for spectators – Friday practice session, and Saturday and Sunday typically riding between nine and 4:30,” said Mark Glew, President of the Australian Jets Sports Boating Association.
