MAN CHARGED AFTER STRING OF ALLEGED VIOLENT OFFENCES
A 23-year-old man has been charged following investigations into a number of alleged violent offences near Lismore this week.
About 9:45pm on Monday May 28, a 22-year-old man was sitting in his white Hyundai on Brunswick Street, when he was allegedly approached by a man with a hammer.
The man allegedly smashed the driver’s window and threatened him before stealing his car.
Then around 5am today, a man entered a home on William Blair Drive, Goonellabah, allegedly armed with a machete and a baseball bat.
He allegedly ransacked the home before fleeing the premises, empty handed. He was seen getting into a white Hyundai.
Shortly after, Lismore officers engaged in a short pursuit with the vehicle, however it was quickly terminated due to the dangerous manner of driving.
Around 10am, officers located a vehicle matching the description and the vehicle in Caniaba, and arrested a man.
He was charged with a string of offences, was refused bail and will appear in Lismore Local Court tomorrow.
