BRENDAN JOHNSTON CLAIMS BACK TO BACK PORT TO PORT MOUNTAIN BIKE WINS

He made a slow start to this year’s Port to Port mountain bike event, but defending champion Brendan Johnston has done enough to claim back to back titles in the men’s division.

“I thought I might’ve been out of it for the week and got better each day and moved up one spot on overall each day and a little bit of pressure but there’s some strong guys so no one’s going to expect me to get up over them.”

Rankin Park’s Cameron Ivory won the opening day, but dropped back to finish third overall.

Armidale’s Holly Harris dominated the women’s race on debut, winning every stage.

“I’m definitely feeling it. There’s definitely a tingling in my legs and I’m a bit tired, but very happy.”
