ROAD SPIKES USED TO END CENTRAL COAST POLICE PURSUIT

A 38-year-old man has been arrested, after road spikes were used to end a police pursuit on the Central Coast.

Just before lunchtime on Friday it’s alleged the man stole a Toyota ute from Warabrook near Newcastle, with the car later involved in an accident on Cessnock Road.

It’s alleged the car failed to stop at the accident scene and continued south along the M1.

Officers later spotted the ute near Bar Point and a pursuit was initiated, with police forced to deploy road spikes.

The vehicle came to a stop near the Hawkesbury River Bridge.

The alleged driver, from Telarah near Maitland, was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with a string of offences including drive contrary to prohibition order.

He is due to face court later today.
