The World Rally Championship is a major tourism event in Coffs Harbour, but questions have been asked about how much the local council spends on sponsorship
At last night’s council meeting, Councillor Sally Townley moved a motion calling for the sponsorship agreement to be made public in the interests of transparency.
Coffs Harbour City Council’s General Manager, Steve McGrath, sits on the board of directors for Rally Australia, something which Councillor Townley said in the meeting she considered to be a conflict of interest.
The motion was voted down, Councillors instead moving to approve the current sponsorship arrangements.
