FOUR ARRESTED OVER STOCKTON POLICE PURSUIT

Four people have been arrested, following a police pursuit at Stockton near Newcastle.

Officers attempted to stop a car on Dunbar Street around lunchtime on Thursday, when it’s alleged the driver accelerated away at high speed towards Nelson Bay.

The pursuit eventually coming to an end with the driver and passengers fleeing the car at Lavis Lane.

Police, with the support of a private quad bike, were able to track down the group around 1500 metres away, with all four arrested.

Two men, a 29-year-old and 25-year-old, as well as a 27-year-old woman were refused bail and appeared in court today.

A 23-year-old man was also arrested, and granted conditional bail to appear in court in June.

Police are expecting to make further arrests.
