A man charged with genital mutilation fronted court for the first time today.
37-year-old Brendan Russell is accused of performing a procedure on a woman at a Newcastle tattoo parlour in 2016 – she later lodged a formal complaint.
Police raided his shop at Erina and arrested him earlier this month.
Russell didn’t enter a plea during his brief appearance at Gosford Local Court this morning.
The matter was adjourned until July 20.
