LAUREN PARKER CLAIMS SILVER IN WORLD SERIES EVENT IN JAPAN

Aussie paratriathlete Lauren Parker has proved she’ll be a genuine gold medal chance, at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, after claiming silver at her first big race outside Australia, the World Series event in Japan.

A month after finishing third at the Commonwealth Games, Parker put the pressure on the international field, emerging first from the swim.

The 29 year old led the pack until the final 1500 metres of the run, but was overtaken by local hero, Wakako Tsuchida.

A wrong turn at the finish saw Parker do an extra 500 metres.. fortunately she recovered in time to grab second.
