Residents of Camberwell in the Upper Hunter have requested an urgent meeting with the Lands Minister, after the Land and Environment Court today ruled Yancoal’s Ashton South East open cut coal mine should go ahead.
The Hunter Environment Lobby had appealed the Planning Assessment Commission’s approval of the mine, citing environment and health impacts.
“There’s already three mines, this fourth is the death knell for people in the community.”
