WESTS OPEN 2018 NEWCASTLE RUGBY LEAGUE WITH A WIN

In the Newcastle competition, Wests have opened the 2018 season with a solid win over the Butcher Boys.

The beaten grand finalists faced a Central side some have labelled a premiership contender.

Early on, the Rosellas were determined in defence, putting plenty of pressure on Callan Richardson.

The home side made that pressure pay off, when Chris Knight combined with Ryan Walker.

When James Elias grabbed a grubber from Sam Keenan, Wests were in front 10-nil.

New signing Terence Seu Seu was dangerous all game.. he scored Central’s only try from dummy half.

But the Rosellas held their nerve, finishing in front 20 points to six.
