A 23-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital, after falling from the back of a ute at Bellbird in the Hunter region.
The man fell from the Toyota Hilux around 1:30 this morning, as the ute turned into Atkinson Street.
He sustained severe head injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital.
The driver, a 25-year-old man was subjected to a roadside breath test where he returned a reading of 0.098.
He was arrested and charged with multiple offences including dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and will face court in June.
