15-YEAR-OLD CHARGED AFTER PHONE ALLEGEDLY STOLEN

A 15-year-old boy will face a Newcastle children’s court after he allegedly stole a mobile phone from another teenager on Friday night.

Police allege the phone was stolen when the 15-year-old threatened a 16-year-old male on Bull Street in Cooks Hill, just after 11.40pm on Friday.

The younger boy was subsequently stopped by police on Maitland Road about 6.30pm yesterday, where they allegedly located a mobile phone during a search of the teen.

He was arrested and charged with robbery, and will appear at a children’s court later this month.

  1. Shame the maitland police could not do the same thing when my daughter phone was stolen and we had the accused. Hopefully maitland police learn from their comrades as my daughter is still without her phone
