$1.5-MILLION TO FIX NEW ENGLAND BLACKSPOTS

The Federal Government has announced $1.5-million to see roads with notorious black spots upgraded.

Three accident prone areas across the New England will share the funding, including the Moore Creek Road and Browns Lane intersection which will receive $800,000.

“It’s going to be a two lane roundabout, that is going to allow greater access to the new subdivisions that are going on either side of this major intersection,” Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce.

Mr Joyce says the region’s ongoing population rise means road infrastructure needs to be up to scratch.

“On top of that, we’re putting close to $500,000 on the Werris Creek Road between Duri and Tamworth. We’re also putting close to $200,000 to upgrade the Thunderbolts Way near Walcha.”
