MACQUARIE ROAD CARDIFF RE-OPENS AFTER WATER MAIN CAUSED TRAFFIC CHAOS

Macquarie Road in Cardiff re-opened to traffic this afternoon following yesterday’s flooding.

Crews have been working around the clock to fix the broken pipe – and repair the road surface.

“Underneath the intersection of Myall Road and Macquarie Road we have a large 500mm main which burst causing the scenes we saw yesterday. That required us to go in there over night and replace two pipes,” said Hunter Water’s Keiran Smith.

Residents across six suburbs were affected by the drama.

If any businesses or residents experienced damages, Hunter Water’s Community Help Line is 1300 657 000.
