NEVER TO YOUNG TO LEARN ABOUT INVASIVE WEEDS
Students from Tacking Point Primary school have been given a hands on experience of how to control an invasive aquatic weed.
Salvinia Molesta, which can grow rapidly and choke waterways, is becoming a problem in the region.
The children today introduced to a tiny solution.
“Fortunately we have a biological control on our hand at the moment. It’s a little weevil and we are going to utilise the weevil today to demonstrate how we can minimise the spread of this weed in the area.” – Thor Aaso – Port Macquarie Council’s Natural Resources Manager.
