In the W-League and the Jets have beaten Canberra this afternoon, grabbing a massive 5-1 win to qualify for the finals.

The visitors hit the front thanks to skipper Emily van Egmond after 12 minutes.

Needing a win to secure a berth in the post season, Newcastle doubled its lead midway through the half.

Ellie Carpenter got Canberra back into the contest before the break.

Van Egmond grabbed a brace with 25 minutes to go.

Then a well worked move made it 4-1, before Stengel grabbed a late hat trick.
