GOLD COAST DRIVER CHARGED AFTER ALLEGEDLY CRASHING STOLEN UTE

A Gold Coast man has been charged after allegedly crashing a stolen motor vehicle on the weekend.

Police say just before 10pm on Sunday night, a ute was seen driving erratically at Burleigh Heads, before running a red light and crashing a short time later at University Drive in Robina.

Two men allegedly attempted to flee the scene when police arrived, but were apprehended and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with minor injuries.

A 19-year-old Robina man has now been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and dangerous driving while intoxicated.

He will appear at Southport Magistrates Court next month.
