KNIFE ALLEGEDLY THROWN IN ALTERCATION ON HUNTER STREET

A man has allegedly thrown a knife at another man during an altercation outside a Newcastle cafe.

The two men, aged 23 and 24, became involved in the altercation on Hunter Street, just before midday on Saturday.

It’s believed the two men are not known to one another.

The 23-year-old, armed with a knife, has allegedly thrown the knife at the 24-year-old, narrowly missing him.

Witnesses intervened and apprehended the armed man until police arrived and arrested the 23-year-old.

He was charged with wielding a knife in a public place, two counts of common assault, and affray.
