TROY SKILLIN WINS MAIDEN CATHO CLASSIC TITLE

Danielle Hancock from Nords Wharf has defended her women’s title at the 39th annual Catho Classic.
Surfers from Swansea cleaned up in the junior divisions, thanks to Cooper Puttergill and Jordy Liackman.
As the temperature soared, the six-man open men’s final got underway in small, clean conditions.
Four-time champion Mick Spencer took to the air as he tried to win title number five, but he came up just short.
Having won the Over 30s, 47-year-old Justin Lee once again defied his age, as he looked to claim an unprecedented eighth open crown.
But they all struggled to catch Budgewoi’s Troy Skillin.
He waited until midway through the decider to catch his opening wave, but he made it count, going on to win the classic for the first time.
