HUNDREDS OF SUSPECTS IN WILLIAM’S DISAPPEARANCE

The lead detective investigating the disappearance of William Tyrrell has confirmed both his biological parents and his foster parents have been ruled out as suspects.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Jubelin said three years after the boy vanished there remains “hundreds” of persons of interest, more than 4000 pieces of information to sift through and numerous lines of inquiry.

“We’re not interested in information from clairvoyants or people that have dreams, what we’re interested in is people that have genuine information. People that might have concerns about someone they know, someone in their family, or the way someone reacts when William Tyrrell’s name is said,” Det. Insp. Jubelin said.

“We are not interested in sightings of children running around in Spiderman outfits in a McDonald’s carpark.

“It’s still very much an active investigation and we will not give up,” he said.

Det. Insp Jubelin said he had nothing but “admiration” for William’s foster carers, who continue to suffer three years after William went missing from his foster grandmother’s home in Kendall, south of Port Macquarie, on September 12, 2014

He would not clarify whether William “Bill” Spedding was still a person of interest.

Spedding was initially questioned as part of the investigation as he had been in contact with William’s foster grandmother about fixing her washing machine around the time the youngster disappeared.

Det. Insp. Jubelin said the number of suspects remained “in the hundreds”, however he added the group was broken down into high-risk and low-risk persons.

“It’s unusual for an active investigation to brief the media halfway, but we’re mindful of the interest in this case,” he said.

In the past month light has been shed on William’s family circumstances following a failed bid from the NSW Department of Family and Community Services to keep his in-care status private.

After the bombshell ruling in August, A Current Affair exclusively revealed William was a foster child.

William’s biological parents, Karlie Tyrrell and Brendan Collins, have been named after years of keeping their identities private.

“The information that came out about the biological family has not impacted the investigation,” Det. Insp. Jubelin confirmed.

Collins, 35, has reportedly served jail time for various theft charges and has been before several courts for drug offences, News Corp reports.

NSW Police announced an unprecedented $1 million reward for information leading to William’s recovery last year.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
