TWO TO FACE COURT OVER ALLEGED KIDNAPPING AND ATTEMPTED MURDER

Two men have been charged with the alleged kidnapping of one man, and the alleged attempted murder of another, on the far north coast of New South Wales.

On the evening of July 23, a passing motorist noticed a man with significant burns on Kyogle Road in Kunghur, about 12km south-west of Uki.

The 35-year-old man was treated at the scene by the motorist and a local doctor, before being airlifted to Royal Brisbane Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

Police also located a burnt-out white Holden Commodore utility at the scene, which they seized for forensic examination.

As part of their inquiries, police identified another man, aged 36, who was reportedly with the injured man that night. Police say the two men were allegedly kidnapped by a group of men and placed in the back of a white ute.

The 36-year-old man managed to escape by jumping from the moving ute, and hiding in nearby bushland.

Subsequent police investigations led to the arrest of a 29-year-old man and a 28-year-old man in relation to the incident earlier this week.

Both men have been charged with attempted murder and kidnapping, and will face Tweed Heads Local Court.
