MANNING BASE HOSPITAL RAISES AWARENESS FOR JEANS FOR GENES DAY

There was plenty of double denim today in Taree in support of Jeans for Genes day.

Local genetic counsellor Bruce Hopper was out spreading awareness of childhood genetic diseases.

He works with families at Manning Base Hospital testing people for hereditary conditions.

“Breast cancers, cardiac conditions, birth defects, pregnancy planning, IVF, all those kind of things. The question is what is it that this person has? Is there a genetic component to it, if so what does it mean for that person?”

The funds raised will go towards to Children’s Medical Research Institute.
