RESCUE CREWS LUCKY TO LAND TRAPPED FISHER
A dramatic and testing rescue operation last night in Nambucca Heads, after a fisherman fell head first down a crack in the break wall, becoming firmly wedged upside down.
It’s believed the fisherman in his 50s fell between the boulders at around 8 o’clock.
Police and paramedics, fire rescue and local VRA volunteers called in the SES from Coffs Harbour at 9 o’clock when they realised he was stuck tight and the tide was coming in.
“Listen Robert, yeah mate, we’re gunna put this back on your leg the strap.”
The fisherman was eventually freed at around 11 pm, cold and scratched but otherwise not seriously hurt.
