NEWCASTLE POLICE SEARCHING FOR BIKE THIEF

Police have described the actions of a thief as inexcusable, after he stole a young boy’s bike while he was in an ice-cream shop in Newcastle.
Just before 4pm on Wednesday, the 11-year-old and his sister rode to the store on Darby Street.
The boy noticed a man acting suspiciously near his bike so he went and stood next it.
Police say the man then took it from him and rode down the street.
He’s described as being aged in his mid 20s, with a slim build, black hair and a moustache.
The mountain bike is a green/grey colour and has a ‘Maxxis’ sticker on the front of the frame.
“I have no doubt someone in the community has information about who is responsible for this crime,” said Newcastle Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Peter Mahon.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
