WOMAN DETAINED AND ASSAULTED OVER 12 HOUR PERIOD

A man has been charged with a string of domestic violence offences that he allegedly inflicted on his partner over a 12 hour period.

Around 8pm yesterday, police responded to reports of an incident involving a man and a woman at a unit in Kurri Kurri.

A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with a range of offences including contravention of an AVO, intentionally choking a person, and assault occassioning actual bodily harm.

Police allege over a 12 hour period, the man assaulted, choked and detained his 39-year-old female partner.

The woman sustained a number of injuries and bruises to her body, head and neck and required medical treatment.
