ADVOCACY GROUP WELCOMES BUDGET SPEND ON REGIONAL PALLIATIVE CARE

The Manning ‘Push-for-Palliative’ advocacy group has welcomed the additional $100-million for palliative care services in yesterday’s state budget.

Regional areas are set to receive six additional palliative care specialists, as well as more allied health professionals and training for nurses.

It’s unclear at this stage where the funds will be distributed.

Chair Judy Hollingwoth hopes one of specialists is assigned to the Manning Valley.

“For nearly a year now we’ve had no visiting palliative specialist, we used to have two from Newcastle but that hasn’t been possible,” said Ms. Hollingworth.
