SUBMACHINE GUN SEIZED ON THE CENTRAL COAST

A submachine gun has been seized after police stopped a car on the Central Coast.

Police stopped a Holden Commodore on Oakland Avenue in The Entrance, about 7.40pm last night.

A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a bag containing an MP40 submachine gun with a missing barrel, a firearm magazine and 60 rounds of various ammunition

Police say the gun is in working order.

A 40-year-old man who was a passenger in the car was arrested and charged with possessing a prohibited firearm and possessing ammunition without a permit.

He will appear at Wyong Local Court today.
