CULINARY STUDENTS PUT SKILLS TO TEST
Toby Raley and Kodi Southgate have impressed judges at today’s Golden Chef’s Hat cook-off in Tamworth.
Culinary students worked in pairs to create four main courses and desserts from a set list of ingredients.
“We’re looking for creativity and flair obviously, but at the end of the day it comes back to how the food tastes. Most of the marks are around what it tastes like.”
Another regional cook-off will be held in Newcastle on Thursday..
The highest scoring team qualifying for the national final, with a $15, 000 overseas trip at stake.
“Next year it will be going to Vietnam and there’ll be a work experience component of that and it’s an amazing trip of a life time.”
