TWO WOMEN ROBBED AND ASSAULTED IN HAMILTON

Police are canvassing businesses in Hamilton for CCTV, after two women were assaulted and robbed early this morning.

The pair, aged in their 30s, were walking near the intersection of Beaumont and Donald streets just after midnight, when they were confronted by a group of four females, who punched them and stole their handbags.

One female is described as being in her 40s, with a dark complexion and slim build.

The other three are believed to be teenagers.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Newcastle Police.
