RECORD FOR GUNNEDAH AS WELCOME RAIN HITS OUR REGION

Some very welcome rain in the gauges for our gardens and farms overnight and this morning.

Thick cloud over much of the state with a broad trough is bringing rain, showers and storms.

The New England and North West enjoyed some widespread rain. Tamworth picked up a very healthy 44 millimetres in the 24 hours to 9am, while 38 millimetres fell at Gunnedah – the highest rainfall there in 12 years for the month of May.

In the Hunter, 32 millimetres at Murrurundi, 23 at Scone, 20 at Gosford and 14 millimetres was recorded at Lake Macquarie.

While on the north coast, Grafton picked up 37 millimetres, 33 at Murwillumbah and 29 fell at Yamba.

In south-eastern Queensland, the Gold Coast recorded 52 millimetres, 38 at Coolangatta.
