WINGHAM BEEF WEEK DRAWS STUDENTS FROM ACROSS THE STATE

400 high school students from across the state have set up camp at Wingham Showground for Beef Week.

They spent the morning taking part in hands on farming demonstrations.

Tractor safety, and modern farming techniques drawing big crowds.

Learning how drones work, a top pick for many.

Agriculture teachers saying the event plays an important role in exposing young adults to the industry.

“I often find that education doesn’t have to be inside closed doors, inside a certain building, inside a certain school. There are so many education opportunities in our field that is on offer.”

The attendance by young women was also high. Some believing female farmers have a touch many men don’t.

“I believe females have a calming nature about them with animals.”

Wingham Beef Week continues tomorrow with steer parades.
