TEEN CHARGED OVER ALLEGED ATTEMPTED CARJACKING

A teenage boy, allegedly involved in a foiled carjacking that left a girl fighting for her life on the Gold Coast, has been charged over the incident.

The boy and girl, both aged 15, secured a lift from a woman at Harbour Town Shopping Centre in Helensvale on Thursday night, claiming they were being chased by a man.

The 24-year-old woman drove them to Mullawa Crescent, where the teens allegedly attempted to carjack the vehicle at knifepoint.

Police say the woman refused, and as she drove away, the vehicle allegedly struck the girl, causing serious injuries.

The boy fled the area on foot but was located a short time later.

He has been charged with unlawful entry of a vehicle while threatening violence.

A 15-year-old girl remains in hospital with life-threatening-injuries.
