TASK FORCE TARGETS ILLEGAL FIREARMS AND WEAPONS

A cache of what police allege are illegal firearms and weapons has been seized as part of a two-day operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs (OMCG) across NSW.

Strike Force Batterson was initiated in response to violent acts believed to be related to a dispute between rival OMCGs, and includes officers from the Gangs Squad, Strike Force Raptor, and police from the state’s Hunter region.

As part of their ongoing strategies, task force officers conducted searches at 11 properties across the Sydney metropolitan area over the weekend.

The searches targeted prohibited firearms, and were conducted at properties at South Windsor, Castlereagh, Greystanes, Merrylands, Marayong, Glenhaven, Mt Druitt, Windsor and The Ponds.

The raids allegedly resulted in the discovery of three pistols, a loaded shortened shotgun, a revolver, a non-commercially manufactured handgun, silencers, a laser sight, ballistic vests, ammunition, two crossbows, and flick knives..

Police say they also seized steroids, prohibited drugs, OMCG colours, and electronic storage devices during the raids.

A 26-year-old man, a 42-year-old woman, and a 45 year-old man were charged with a number of firearm and drug offences.
