DRIVER INVOLVED IN HIT-AND-RUN OF 8-YEAR-OLD URGED TO CONTACT POLICE

Police are appealing for the driver involved in the hit-and-run of an 8-year-old boy on the Gold Coast to come forward.

The boy was crossing Benowa Road near Slayter Avenue in Benowa around 8 o’clock on Thursday morning when he was hit by an orange hatchback.

Police say the vehicle failed to stop and continued travelling north.

The boy was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening leg injury.

The driver of the vehicle, or any witnesses, are being urged to contact police.
